Pope provides prayer for earthquake victims in Ecuador, Peru
VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis provided prayers Sunday for the victims of an earthquake that shook huge swaths of territory in Ecuador and components of Peru.
During his weekly Sunday midday blessing, Francis recalled that the 6.8-magnitude temblor prompted “death, injuries and heavy damage.”
“I’m close to the Ecuadorean people and assure them of my prayers for the dead and suffering,” Francis stated.
Saturday’s quake killed no less than 15 folks, injured a whole bunch and introduced down properties and buildings in vastly totally different communities, from coastal areas to the highlands. At least one of many deaths was in Peru.
