United flight from Hawaii to California almost plunges into Pacific
A United Airlines flight departing Hawaii for California in December plunged greater than 1,000 toes proper after takeoff — almost into the Pacific Ocean, based on flight information.
Just 71 seconds into the Dec. 18 flight from Kahului Airport in Maui that was sure for San Francisco International Airport, the Boeing 777 jet, Flight 1722, all of a sudden started a steep descent towards the ocean, the information present.
In lower than 20 seconds, the aircraft went from 2,200 toes to 775 toes above the water, based on flight information.
The jet was hurtling towards the water at 8,600 toes per minute, based on the Air Current, a web based aviation publication.
The aircraft stabilized and went again to ascending earlier than finishing the journey to San Francisco.
The flight crew reported what occurred to the Federal Aviation Administration.
While United Airlines didn’t say what the problem was, a spokesperson advised CNN that there was nothing incorrect with the aircraft and that the pilots acquired “additional training” after the incident.
The close to crash was first reported by the Air Current on Sunday.
