Viola Davis Reveals What She Didn’t Know About Michael Jordan’s Mom Before ‘Air’
Viola Davis, who stars within the Ben Affleck-directed movie “Air” on the beginnings of the Air Jordan sneakers, has opened up about what she discovered of Michael Jordan’s mom Deloris Jordan and her function in defending “her son’s legacy.”
The EGOT-achieving actor’s function within the movie comes after MJ requested for Davis to play his mom in “Air,” Affleck revealed to The Hollywood Reporter in a profile printed Thursday.
Davis, in an interview with the publication, mirrored on the significance of motherhood and Deloris Jordan’s potential to go to bat for her son.
“Mothers are the most important figures in anybody’s life, so I was very flattered and deeply moved to be asked to play Michael’s mother,” Davis mentioned.
“I know Michael Jordan but didn’t know that Deloris brokered this deal to get him a huge stake in the shoe and in turn, protected her son’s legacy. I wanted to know more about this woman who had the strength and courage to fight for her son’s worth.”
Davis famous that she leaned into the mission attributable to Deloris Jordan having the traits of “an incredible woman.”
“For Deloris to have this insight and progressive vision, to stand her ground in the negotiation room – which I know can be the hardest part of the job – makes her an incredible woman,” Davis mentioned.

Davis’ ideas on Deloris Jordan arrive after Affleck famous that her character had one line within the movie on the time of the NBA nice’s request.
